Outsiders on the Inside: Innovative Creatives Revolutionizing Healthcare Recap

Thank you to all the panelists who contributed to the incredible success of the "Outsiders on the Inside: Innovative Creatives Revolutionizing Healthcare" event. We would also like to express our gratitude to our engaged audience for their helpful questions and insights. Throughout the event, there were so many memorable moments and key takeaways, we would like to highlight a few of our favorites.

Good design for all

In today's world, it is essential to have beautifully designed products that offer an exceptional user experience, even the basic and mundane ones. Unfortunately, menstrual care products have been overlooked in design conversations. However, Andrea Lee, VP of Product and Operations at Diva International, aims to change this by creating thoughtfully designed period products. Regardless of its purpose, every product deserves to be functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Talk to your users

Abby Scheer, co-founder of Cervu, provided valuable insights into the design decisions behind her product. She emphasized that every decision was guided by user feedback. From color and finish to shape, she actively engaged with users at each step of the design process. Recognizing that adherence is crucial for pelvic floor physical therapy to yield results, Abby aimed to empower users and ensure they would be motivated to use the device by tailoring the design to their interests.

Authentic representation matters

Maya Friedman, Product Design Manager and Lead at Tidepool stressed the significance of presenting authentic depictions of bodies in research guides and surveys during a conversation on research. She urged the researchers to refrain from using cartoons and stick figures as research stimuli and instead use authentic images that people can relate to. Maya emphasized that realistic representations can generate more authentic reactions and valuable feedback by establishing a deeper connection with participants.
